Guwahati, Oct 5 (IANS) An elephant died because of electrocution in Assam’s Gossaigaon district on Wednesday, officers said.

The incident passed off on the Chanfan wooded area range of Peripur village inside the district.

As according to the locals, the elephant got here out of the woodland looking for meals where it by accident touched a excessive-tension electric line putting lots underneath the prescribed height.

The villagers have blamed the strength department and woodland officials for this twist of fate.

The forest branch was informed via the locals and they went to the spot to recover the body of the elephant.
